Grand Ole Opry 4/25 & 4/26

The Grand Ole Opry has announced the line-ups for the shows this weekend and the big news is that there are no artists scheduled from "Nashville" and nobody making their Opry debut this weekend!!!! What we do have are a couple of shows that feature a few of the Opry's more popular members, along with a number of artists who appear quite frequently on the Opry.

Both shows this weekend will feature Opry members Larry Gatlin, Riders In The Sky and Connie Smith. I have said previously that it has been nice seeing Larry at the Opry on what is almost a regular basis. He is popular and seems to really enjoy being there. Joining them on Friday night will be frequent Opry guests Sarah Darling, who according to her will be making her 57th Opry appearance, and The Grascals. Also appearing will be Moe Bandy, who does not play at the Opry very often but always receives a great reception.

Saturday's Grand Ole Opry, in addition to Larry, Connie and the Riders, will feature Opry member Vince Gill. And there are more frequent guests scheduled Saturday including Chuck Mead and his group, and Chris Janson.

  1. From ANONYMOUS PA: Still a lot of names I do not recognize for this weekend's Opry. Although not "Opry" news, it was sad to learn about Kevin Sharp this week; he was one of the good ones, gone way too soon. We saw him at a music festival a number of years ago and he had a great show. He had some very noteworthy songs that will stand the test of time - maybe not the top of the list, but nevertheless, good decent, understandable music. Do you know if he ever played the Opry?

  2. Friday night's last half hour should be great.
Sturgill Simpson is a fantastic talent, who has absolutely refused to do anything but country music that we will all enjoy.
