Grand Ole Opry 10/24 & 10/25

The Grand Ole Opry has posted the line-ups for the upcoming weekend shows. The Opry continues at the Grand Ole Opry House with the Friday Night Opry and Saturday's Grand Ole Opry.

The Friday Night Opry will feature a pair of Opry members singing selections from their new CD and signing copies in the Opry Gift Shop. That would be the husband and wife team of Ricky Skaggs and Sharon White. They have recorded previously, but this will be the first time they have done an entire album together. Joining the pair on Friday night will be guest artists Mallary Hope, John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band, Will Hoge, JT Hodges and Striking Matches. All have done the Opry previously. And it is nice to see Ray Pillow returning to host a segment.

Striking Matches will also stay over for the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night, where they will be joined by popular and frequent Opry guest The Willis Clan. Also appearing will be guest artists TG Sheppard, Elizabeth Cook and a person who a lot of folks are excited about, Sturgill Simpson.

  1. Maybe the Opry decided to make it more worthwhile $$$ for Mike to make the trip to Nashville. The sad fact is with the loss of IV & Jimmy C plus Jim Ed out and Dickens no longer able to host there are just not many veterans left to host. No surprise why we're seeing more Ray Pillow & Jan actually got to perform twice in a weekend. Sure wasn't because of the managements charity. They've boxed themselves into a corner. Why did the WLS Barn Dance, Hayride etc fold: they put off their core fans in favor of the new then the new didn't support them.

  2. Tonight's Saturday show is outstanding!
I wish I didn't have a Church event keeping me in town tonight. I would have LOVED attending this show. The 'Opry still has excellent shows from time to time.
It may just be me, but it seems like they're spending more time singing/performing tonight and less time killing time.
LOVE Sturgill Simpson and his energy. Willis Clan soon to bring 'er to a close with more youthful energy.
