Mid-Week Opry Shows 10/13 & 10/15

Before posting the line-ups for the mid-week Opry shows, I wanted to pass along some news regarding someone we all know.

I received word late last week that Kayton Roberts suffered a slight stroke. He is home resting and is getting better each day. I am sure all of us offer our thoughts and prayers to this great steel guitar player. Hard to believe that he will be 82 next month. Kayton, or course, was a long time member of Hank Snow's Rainbow Ranch Boys and is in the International Steel Guitar Hall of Fame. He also has a great website, kaytonroberts.com that I suggest everyone check out.

Here are the posted line-ups for the two mid-week Opry shows this week:

Tuesday Night Opry October 13:

7:00: Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers; Rhonda Vincent
7:30: Riders In The Sky; Easton Corbin
Intermission
8:15: Chase Bryant; Kelsea Ballerini
8:45: Rascal Flatts

It is nice to see Rhonda Vincent back on the Opry schedule. This will be only her 2nd Opry appearance this year, which is down from previous years. She has been pretty busy and doing a lot of shows. And for Rascal Flatts, this will be their 6th Opry show of 2015 and they have more scheduled. It looks like they will come close to hitting the magic number of 10, so it is nice to see another of the Opry's newer members finding the time to appear on the show.

Opry Country Classics Thursday October 15:

Host: Larry Gatlin
Spotlight Artist: Dailey & Vincent
Also appearing: The Gatlin Brothers; Mo Pitney; Jeannie Seely; Holly Williams

  1. I know someone who will be thrilled about Mo Pitney doing a guest appearance!

I'm sorry to hear the news about Kayton and we all hope he'll be fine and plucking away at that steel again soon. Thanks for mentioning the website--I hadn't known about it. And I'd like to say, one of the greatest instrumentals of all time is Kayton doing "The Bells of St. Mary's," after which Mr. Snow would say, "You'll notice at no time did his fingers leave his arms."

  2. In my opinion, Mo Pitney would be an excellent addition to the membership roll of the Opry. Maybe next year will be his year to become a member.
