  1. Larry Gatlin has done three time in a row the same three songs (Houston, Brocken Lady and All the Gold) and the usual Gospels on past Opry Country Classics. This is really bad for a star who has hundred songs to sing. For us WSM listeners this is really boring, maybe not for the live audience...
The more or less funny jokes are always the same ones too....
I love Larry much, but the show needs a new concept in the future...
What do you think about that?

  2. It might be time to mix it up. I do know that the show is pretty scripted so not sure how much input Larry really has with the show. Same pattern and songs each week. But I will say Larry is a good host and brings a lot of energy to the show. Who would be good suggestions to host this show in the future, when it comes back in the fall?

    1. I think Larry is great, and he's dedicated, but, yes, time for some new jokes and songs. Even Mr. Acuff didn't ALWAYS sing the Cannonball!

Vince Gill or Marty Stuart would be great, but will they do it?

  3. Oh, for me Larry is the perfect host, I love him, he is the real reason for me, to hear it every week! But like you said, I think it's time to mix it up and give some more weekly changes to the song lineup of the host and the jokes :-)

  5. Mark Wills had the same question at the show today...why can sing Larry as host his own songs, but he has to sing Classics on Opry Country Classics....?:-):-)
