Tuesday Night Opry 8/1 & Wednesday Night Opry 8/2

Summer continues and welcome to August. Can the end of summer be coming so soon? Let's hope it lasts a little while longer.

Line-ups have been posted for the two mid-week show.

Tuesday August 1
7:00: John Conlee; Craig Campbell
7:30: Ellie Holcomb; Diamond Rio
Intermission
8:15: Bill Anderson; Dailey & Vincent
8:45: Chris Young

4 Opry members for the Tuesday show, and nice to see another Opry appearance by Dailey & Vincent, the Opry's newest members. Looks like the featured attraction will be Chris Young. Nice to see him back on the Opry so soon.

Wednesday August 2
7:00: Riders In The Sky; Maggie Rose
7:30: Mo Pitney; Linda Davis
Intermission
8:15: Trent Tomlinson; Martin Family Circus
8:45: Del McCoury Band; Chris Janson

Just 2 Opry members on the Wednesday night show, and one who would love to become a member. Nice to see another appearance by the Martin Family Circus. They have really impressed during their past ones.

  1. ALRIGHT! TRENT!
He had a couple of really REALLY good singles around 2005ish, my senior year of high school by the way, which is why I say what I do about Rascal Flatts.
Anyways, he just kind of disappeared. I remember spasifically asking a friend who writes for Country Weekly and CMT what happened. She had no idea. I hope he's good live!
Also, BOTH CHRIS AND CHRIS NEED TO BE MEMBERS NOW!!!!

  2. When and if a Tuesday or Wednesday night 'Opry features ZERO 'Opry members, will they still call it an 'Opry show?
Inquiring minds want to know! :)

    1. You know Nat, I would have to check but I do believe that there already has been a Tuesday or Wednesday night show with no Opry members present. I will check.

  3. Wow....
Don't spend hours on the project, Byron.
I check your blog religiously, and I don't recall any shows with ZERO 'Opry members.
Sad commentary on the current state of the 'Opry that we're even having this discussion.

  4. Nat, there have been a couple of the Thursday Night Opry Country Classic shows that have had only Larry Gatlin and his brothers as the only Opry members, and there have been several Tuesday night shows with just one Opry member.

As to a show with no Opry members, the last one I found was the Opry Country Classics on May 19, 2016. Bill Cody hosted that one with Moe Bandy; TG Sheppard; Daryle Singletary; Rhonda Vincent; Gene Watson; and Crystal Gayle.

  5. Thanks Byron.
Hope your research wasn't too time consuming.
An Opry Country Classics show that is short on 'Opry members doesn't bother me as much, for some reason.
It's more about older songs often made famous by 'Opry members. If the original 'Opry members are there to sing them, so much the better.
The May 19th show you documented would have been a GREAT show, featuring folks who should be 'Opry members.
    Thanks again!

  6. I remember going to a Friday Night Opry about 3-4 years ago that had only one Opry member on the lineup, with the one member being Brad Paisley. The format was set up like the Tuesday/Thursday shows with no portions or hosts. Very disappointed with that show. The people sitting beside us had never been to the Opry before and I didn't have the heart to tell them that they still hadn't seen the Opry.

    1. Wow. What a sad story.
The only good news is that the current Friday/Saturday shows aren't like the one you saw.
Wonder if they got some push-back?
