Tuesday Night Opry 5/14 & Opry Country Classics 5/16

This will be a big week for the Grand Ole Opry as not only are there two shows next Friday and Saturday night, but the Tuesday Night Opry will also have a pair of shows, thanks to an appearance by Grand Ole Opry member Keith Urban.

7:00: Riders In The Sky; Hunter Hayes
7:30: Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley; Chonda Pierce
8:00: Sawyer Brown; Chris Janson
8:30: Keith Urban

2nd show
9:30: Riders In The Sky; Hunter Hayes
10:00: Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley; Chonda Pierce

Opry Country Classics Thursday May 16
Host: Larry Gatlin
Spotlight Artist: Craig Morgan
Also Appearing: Abby Anderson; Carlene Carter; Jimmy Fortune

Actually, either Carlene Carter or Jimmy Fortune could have been the spotlight artist, but a good choice with Craig Morgan.

Enjoy the week. I am posting this a couple of days early as we are headed off to Gatlinburg and the mountains for a few days or rest and relaxation.

  2. Sawyer Brown and Chris Janson might be 2 of the highest energy country artists ever. Curious how a segment featuring both of them plays out.

Having to follow those two acts, what a job!

  3. Opry Country Classics should be fantastic this week. Not that it isn't every week. Bob

  4. Keith Urban makes his biennial Opry appearance and Byron goes into the woods? I think there's a connection!

  5. Tonight's show may be one of the worst lineups I've ever seen 3 of 4 segments feature a pop singer who is doing part to destroy Country Music

    1. I'm going to have to disagree on Chris Janson. Yes, he has put out a couple less than stellar songs while trying to chase fame, but he has also put out some good songs and if you ever see/hear him live you know he loves true Country Music.

    2. I'm with you Joe. Chris did "your cheatin' heart" recently on the 'Opry and he truly respects traditional country music.
The problem is that nobody is buying traditional country music anymore, and if you're going to fill stadiums, you by and large have got to sing today's junk. It's what the public demands.

  6. Two shows "because" Keith Urban ??? I would be curious to how well attended both shows were.

  7. The Opry made a great choice having Opry star Craig Morgan be the Spotlight artist ... not because I am a huge fan of his & his music, but because he is an Opry member. I really do like Jimmy Fortune a whole lot, as well as Carlene Carter, I still prefer Craig Morgan. Looking forward to everyone's segment tonight.

Chris Janson mentioned how much he loves traditional country music & then he sang a few songs Tuesday night. The great thing about Opry Country Classics is that the artists are asked to sing songs older than 25 years old.
