  1. It's interesting to notice that in 1970, there weren't that many in--Thanksgiving week probably. But who wouldn't have loved to have been there that night in 1954!

    1. As I have been posting the line-ups from the 1970 shows, many of those shows, particularly during the second half of the year, the majority of those shows seemed to have had a low number of Opry members appearing. I know many of those members were heavily touring during that period, and even though it was the Opry, I think many were starting to get tired of the Ryman, and the lack of facilities. As I have started to look at the line-ups from the early part of 1971, it appears that many of the members were making their way back.

    2. I remember Grant Turner once said that the lowest attendance was always around the holidays because there were fewer tourists in Nashville, and those were the best shows because everybody in the cast was in town!

    3. We went once decades ago during the holidays, and I'm guessing there were fewer than 500 people there.
Great group of 'Opry members entertained that night!

  2. John Conlee has cancelled for Saturday night. As with the cancellation of the Oak Ridge Boys last week, no replacement has been set. I think as these Opry shows continue, we shouldn't be surprised as artists go off the schedule.

    2. It would appear that Riders In The Sky cancelled on Friday night. Hopefully nothing serious.

    3. This second Covid wave is horrible and will likely get worse.
If I were an 'Opry member my age (72) or older, you couldn't pay me enough to appear.

    4. Nat, I find it interesting that some of the older Opry members are out doing live shows, besides at the Opry. Riders In The Sky were in Texas last weekend, Jeannie Seely was in Branson with Rhonda Vincent doing her Christmas show, Connie Smith and Marty Stuart were doing a concert last night in Mississippi, The McCoury's were out doing a bluegrass festival last weekend, and the Oak Ridge Boys are doing their Christmas show at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel, which Jeannie Seely attended last night. In the case of John Conlee, I know he still has been promoting Cornerstone Church and their Sunday services, of which he is a part of.

I would agree. I am somewhat surprised with this current Covid outbreak that the Opry has kept going. I know tonight is a sell-out, of the limited tickets, and I am sure that will continue through the Christmas season.

Hopefully everyone is staying safe, being careful and doing the right things.

    5. Had no earthly idea 'Opry folks were so active on the concert circuit.
Especially some of the older ones.
      Surprises me greatly.
      Hope they stay safe.
      Thanks Byron.

  3. Ashlee McBride was just terrific tonight---what a wonderful medley of terrific songs with mostly her and her guitar --- there is hope for maintaining the Opry spirit --- Dashmann, Flushing, Michigan --

  4. And Dom Flemons was terrific TONIGHT!
There have been so many under-talented young acts on the 'Opry lately, and here comes an energetic guy with more talent than a big bunch of them combined.
Bring him back, and please, let him be a member. PLEASE

  5. Don Flemons came across wonderfully on the radio tonight !!!! He made those old folk train songs have new life with his picking. Membership for him ??? YES ! agree with Nat !!! Dashmann , Flushing, Michigan --

  6. Honestly, does anyone think the Opry can survive, grow and thrive if one day all 4 hours of the Opry are like the Circle TV hour ?????? Would you drive hundreds of miles to attend those shows ???? Then again, maybe that's the same question they asked when electric guitars started coming in to the opry ---- Dashmann, Flushing, Michigan
