Grand Ole Opry Saturday October 31

The Grand Ole Opry finishes up the month of October with what is scheduled to be the final one hour  Opry show. Beginning next weekend, the Opry will be returning to a two hour show on Friday and Saturday night, with the final hour on Saturday televised on Circle TV.

As I look at the upcoming Opry schedule, they seem to be keeping it pretty close to the vest, as there are only two upcoming dates in November that have artists listed. November 7 has Opry member Craig Morgan on the schedule along with Justin Moore and Brantley Gilbert, while Lady A and Chris Tomlin are listed for November 21. As the Opry moves to the two hour shows, it will be interesting to see what the format will be and how many artists will be performing each week. Hopefully, it will be a well-rounded lineup and we will once again see some of our Opry favorites. And let's not forget, we are still awaiting the formal Opry induction of Rhonda Vincent.

For the final October show only two acts are currently listed, Steve Wariner and Clint Black. This is a banner year for Clint at the Opry as this will be his 2nd appearance of 2020, which is the most he has appeared on the Opry since 2014.

  1. We talk about side men and studio musicians here and the need for them to be remembered and some who should be in the HOF. Do any of you recognize the name J.T. Corenflos? He came to Nashville in the early 80's from Terre Haute, Indiana. Among his earliest jobs was working with Jean Shepard and Joe Stampley. I can remember hearing Jean introduce him as part of her band on the Opry. His primary instrument was lead guitar. He eventually became a top studio musician playing on close to 75 #1 hits. He showed up in Nashville about the same time that Terry and Grady Eldridge did working with Lonzo and Oscar. They grew up in West Terre Haute, Indiana! Well, J.T. passed at age 56 this past Saturday the 24th from a long struggle with lung cancer.

He never forgot his hometown and returned often to do benefits and was inducted into the Wabash Valley Musicians Hall of Fame this past March.

  2. Another nice show on Saturday night. Clint Black and Steve Wariner shared the stage for most of the hour. A nice surprise was the Opry debut of Clint's daughter, Lily Black.

  3. Was Daddy Clint proud of his daughter Lily or what?
She was scared to death to start with, but hit her stride about half way through the song, and Clint could NOT stop smiling.
    I couldn't either!
Very nice show. Two real pros and a really sweet young lady.
