The line up for the Tuesday Night Line up on March 29 is as follows:
7:00: Riders In The Sky; Joey+Rory
7:30: Jean Shepard; Justin Moore
INTERMISSION
8:15: Bill Anderson; Easton Corbin
8:45: Jimmy Dickens; Cherryholmes
Hopefully, Jimmy will be back on Tuesday night. He has been missing from the Opry for the past several weeks.
Opry Country Classics returns for its Spring run on Thursday March 31. Here is the line up:
Host: Larry Gatlin
Spotlight Artist: Mel Tillis
Also Appearing: Lynn Anderson; Jim Ed Brown; The Gatlin Brothers; Wade Hayes; Pam Tillis
A very strong line up to start the 2011 series
This IS a good start. It also is the place the Opry should spotlight some of its legends--if Pete Fisher doesn't want them on Saturday night, at the very least, a "Classics" show is where they could appear more. Further, it would be a good spot for a weekly appearance by a former Opry member. I recently saw a clip of "Oscar" Sullivan--as in Lonzo &--performing at a local fair at age 92.
ReplyDeleteI did not know that Oscar was still performing. They need to get him back for one more appearance at the Opry and recognize him as a former member.
ReplyDeleteAnd, they should have someone introduce him who actually knows who he is!!!
No Jimmy Dickens for Tuesday night. He has been replaced by Jim Ed Brown. Jimmy is on the schedule for this weekend's Opry shows, but based on how the line up looks and the number of artists on, they are in a position to easily replace him if he is unable to go.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what Dave Hooten is doing now, but he was the third Lonzo. Oscar sold the Lonzo & Oscar act and name to two guys who have been performing it. But the old boy has still got it. He is, I believe, the senior living former Opry member because while he formally joined in 1946, he came there around 1942 as a musician.
