  1. Suzy Bogguss would make a great Opry member

  2. Fred, Bismarck:

Agreed. Her voice is the real article.

  3. I agree with both of you. I saw her at the Opry last year and she did a very nice job. Well received by the audience.

T.G. Sheppard, Crystal Gayle, Suzy Bogguss, Dailey & Vincent, Rhonda Vincent.....that sounds like 5 pretty good country and bluegrass singers that would make good Opry members. Anybody listening on Opryland Drive?

  4. We're listening out in Las Vegas! But my little crusade is to go on the Opry page on Facebook and keep asking why the management hates its older members. It's fun.

  5. Byron: Gene Watson would be a great sixth name to add to that group of five. All are very active in the Country/Bluegrass music business, but I think all of them would take the time to play the Opry often. Wait, they do already....

  6. I would add Jimmy Wayne to the list.

  7. Agree with Gene Watson. I think it was 2 years ago that I wrote a piece on 10 artists that I thought should be, or were going to be, Opry members at some point. Much like the Hall of Fame post I did, I will dig it up, update it and repeat it.

As far as Jimmy Wayne, he was one of the 10 I listed, but I have been told from those who might know something, that he is probably a no-go as an Opry member.

  8. Fred, again:

Since we're talkin' prospective Opry members, as well as Hall of Fame possibles, I've gotta put in another plug (for Opry membership) on behalf of Marty Stuart cohorts the Tennessee Mafia Jug Band. I just got hold of their new CD, "Screams from the Holler," and I'm here to tell you it is the real, rip-snortin' oldfashioned country music article! Check it out.
