Final Grand Ole Opry Performance for Jimmy Dickens
The Grand Ole Opry has posted the video of the final Opry performance of Jimmy Dickens. This took place on December 20, 2014, the day after his 94th birthday.
Agreed @Jim, Anonymous & Michael ... the Grand Ole Opry will never be the same without Little Jimmy Dickens. He sure had a way of endearing himself to everyone.
It suddenly occurred to me that Bill Anderson was also at the center of Roy Acuff's last Saturday night Opry appearance, about which he has written very movingly and which we have discussed here. As a reminder, Mr. Acuff had been out sick and Bill was to host his segment when Mr. Acuff arrived, essentially being carried by his band members. When Bill came out, something made him say that he wanted to do "their" song, which Mr. Acuff always tried to beg off from doing, and then they did "I Wonder If God Likes Country Music."
Tears...........
ReplyDeleteThanks Byron
