Mid-Week Opry Shows

The Grand Ole Opry has posted the line-ups for this week's Tuesday Night Opry, along with the Wednesday Night Opry, which begins this week for most of the summer. The Wednesday night show replaces the Opry Country Classics show, which will return in the fall.

Tuesday June 16
7:00: Terri Clark; Jim Lauderdale
7:30: Keith Anderson; Nathan Chapman
Intermission
8:15: Cam; The Steeldrivers
8:45: John Conlee; Chris Janson

Well, they did manage to round up two Opry members for this show. Cam gets a return appearance after her debut a few weeks back. And another show featuring Chris Janson

Wednesday June 17
7:00: Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers; Greg Bates
7:30: Jeannie Seely; The Isaacs
Intermission
8:15: Emily West; Marty Stuart
8:45: Trace Adkins

Nice to see Marty Stuart and Trace Adkins back at the Opry, even with a mid-week appearance. And Larry, Steve and Rudy continue their string of Opry appearances in 2015.

  1. I went to the grand ole opry on Friday June 12th, sometime between 7:15-7:30ish..as I walking in, I heard a beautiful sad sounding song with a raspyish voice and for the life of me I can't remember the lyrics...would you be able to help me figure it out? I couldn't see who was singing it, buy it was before Pride made his appearance. My email is rocknrodeotack@aol.com ; I'll try to check back here in case you respond . Thanks!

    1. It almost sounded like amazing grace's tune but not quite. Raspy like Brantley Gilbert.

And the Isaacs are good. Otherwise, these look like a lot of long half-hours to me. Can anybody say COUNTRY anymore? Even "stars" like Marty and Trace Adkins are only marginally country in most of their music, in my opinion.

If the EPA wanted to interest itself in a real endangered-species prospect, it would start issuing orders for the protection of country music.

  3. The 7:00 segment was hosted by Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers. After the Jim Ed Brown tribute, they did "The 3 Bells." Mike Snider followed with an instrumental number and then Love and Theft did 2 songs. I did listen but I don't remember. Usually they do "Whiskey on My Breath", which it might have been.
