Another week of Grand Ole Opry shows as we continue to roll through summer. Another pretty solid line-up for both the Friday Night Opry and Saturday's Grand Ole Opry.
Grand Ole Opry members appearing both nights include Jeannie Seely; Mike Snider (keeping his 2017 streak alive); Connie Smith and The Whites. They will be joined by Jesse McReynolds, Bobby Osborne and Ricky Skaggs on Friday, while on Saturday night it will be just those four. Interesting that this weekend they have scheduled Jesse and Bobby for the same night as usually you will see them opposite of each other.
As to guest artists, the list for Friday night has Darryl Worley, Wade Hayes, Easton Corbin, Mickey Guyton and Point Of Grace. Saturday night, it will be Keith Anderson, TG Sheppard, Ashley Campbell, Hall of Fame member Charlie McCoy, The Grascals, Chonda Pierce and making their Opry debut, Sons Of The Palomino, who are made up of a group of Nashville songwriters and session players.

Finally, saw that WSM has hired sports talk show host George Plaster, who has been on numerous stations in Nashville over the past 20 years, including early in his career, WSM. From what I have learned, he will have a Sunday night show and it will not affect any other programming on WSM.
There you have it for this week. I hope everyone enjoys the Opry this weekend!!!
I can live with a grand total of three hours of Sports a week on WSM.
ReplyDeleteSundays, 5 – 8pm --- "A weekly sports talk show hosted by industry veteran George Plaster and co-hosted by Jonathan Shaffer, Sports Night provides and appealing and informative look at all things sports.
No matter the season or year, there’s always great stuff to talk about in sports! From Titans to Predators and Vols to Commodores, there will be plenty to discuss each and every week on Sports Night!" (From WSM website)
On another subject: Connie Smith sounds exactly the same as she did forty (fifty?) years ago. Unbelievable talent.
