Tuesday Night Opry 6/26 & Wednesday Night Opry 6/27

Here you go for the mid-week shows:

Tuesday June 26
7:00: Connie Smith; Walker McGuire
7:30: Natalie Stovall; Chris Janson
Intermission
8:15: Bill Anderson; Lilly Hiatt
8:45: Jackie Lee; Steve Wariner

Nice to see an Opry member on each segment, and great that Chris Janson continues to support the show that made him a member.

For those interested, Lilly Hiatt is the daughter of singer/songwriter John Hiatt, whom I am sure most are familiar with.

Wednesday June 27
7:00: Jeannie Seely; Phil Vassar
7:30: Emily West; Turnpike Troubadours
Intermission
8:15: Chase Bryant; Molly Tuttle
8:45: Parmalee; Neal McCoy

As with last Wednesday, only one Opry member is scheduled. For Molly Tuttle, this will be her Opry debut. Molly is described as a vocalist, songwriter, banjo player and guitarist, recording artist and teacher in the bluegrass tradition, noted for her flatpicking, clawhammer, and cross-picking guitar prowess. She has cited Laurie Lewis, Kathy Killick, and Hazel Dickens as role models. In 2017, she was the first woman to win the International Bluegrass Music Association's Guitar Player of the Year award.

  1. When the day comes where a Grand Old 'Opry show has ZERO 'Opry members (and that day IS coming), is it legitimate to call it a Grand Old 'Opry show???
Inquiring minds want to know! :)

One thing for sure, I'm not buying any tickets to a Wednesday Night "Grand Old 'Opry" show. That ought to shake 'em up.

    1. I thought I got the short end when there were just two Opry members at the last show I attended, but I still enjoyed it. I would be ticked off if there were zero or one, though. If they need to add members until they find enough willing to show up, then so be it. Robert

  2. @Byron - I totally agree with you; I really do think Chris Janson meant what he said about loving the Opry and he was going to show up often. So far, so good. He will be appearing at a summer festival about an hour's drive from me Friday of next week - if it's not 200 degrees w/100% humidity, I just may take the drive to see what we don't get to see when he's on the Opry stage to win those standing ovations. :-) Oh and I will take my Opry neckerchief that a ton of Opry members have autographed in the last 25 years when I attended "Fan Fair." Haven't had a new signature on it in quite a few years. In August I am going to see Larry, Steve & Rudy, the Gatlin Brothers and I will take it there as well. I have a feeling I might get lucky here vs at a summer festival with many people in attendance, but I'll take it anyway because one just never knows. :-)

@Nat Hill - I agree - week two or is it three now of how many weeks for a Wednesday show - no Opry ticket for me either.

    1. Jim, the brothers are performing at the Arcada Theater in St. Charles, IL - I have a ticket along with others. :-) Haven't seen them in concert in many years and I am really looking forward to seeing/hearing them. I have always held the opinion that Larry Gatlin has one of the best voices in country music since they came out on the music scene. :-)

  5. I recognize that I am not a Chris Janson fan, but I do appreciate him supporting the show and appearing often. If I were manager, the first hing I would do, would be strip those who do not appear 10 times per year. I would not care if that ruffled feathers. I would replace them with people like The Grascals, Rhonda Vincent, Mandy Barnett, etc.
