  2. I almost commented "ONLY one Opry member" Bill Anderson for the entire show, then I realized there is another (Dustin Lynch - who????), how many times has he appeared since his surprising induction? Sorry, other than Bill, that show is not worth the money and it would cost far more than going to a Bill Anderson show and getting a full evening of great entertainment.

  4. Both Sturgill and John Prine should be Opry members along with people like Margo Price. The Americana genre of country music is growing by leaps and bounds but the Opry has largely ignored this alternative to mainstream country except for guest appearances. I get that having the up and coming pop country star pays the bills bc the record companies have deep pocketbooks but for the long-term survival of the show, look toward Americana music and bluegrass. Daily and Vincent can't carry the load on the Opry after Bobby and Jesse are gone and we need some good solid younger-ish bluegrass acts who are still traditional who will play the Opry frequently (yes, bluegrass is starting to have the same traditional problems that have decimated country) like the Grascals, Joe Mullins & the Radio Ramblers, the Traveling McCourys and we all agree Rhonda Vincent. Can you imagine the Opry without bluegrass on a given week in the future? (oldtimeopry)

    1. I agree! I find myself listening to Route650 more and more since it often has more traditional country music on it than WSM.
Americana is the future of traditional country music. Country music stations of today are a disaster.
And, agree 100% on bluegrass. But am worried about Daily and Vincent. Watched their TV show lately? Long stretch to call many of the songs bluegrass.

  5. Sturgill, Sturgill AND Sturgill ...

Just so awesome - hope the Opry invites him back faster than real soon.

And John Prine was just as terrific.

    That is all. :-)
