    1. Nora Lee Allen has not appeared as a part of the Opry singer since Covid hit. I am going to assume that she is retired but I have seen no official announcement or post.

    2. Thankyou. Yes, I wondered if Nora Lee had quietly stepped down or simply not returned. I wish her the best, whatever the circumstances.

  2. What are your predictions for the 2022 Hall of Fame inductees, to be announced tomorrow?.

  3. Mo Pitney would be a great addition to the Opry! He understands Country Music.

    1. Agree completely on Mo Pitney. Why does this great kid seemed to get shoved into the background like Rhonda Vincent did for so many years ? Now she is one of the best, most loyal Opry members ! ---- Flushing, Michigan Dashmann

  4. I'm a fan of Mo Pitney.
He "gets it" when it comes to real country music.

    1. Wellllll ... Let's just say I think they could have done a little better this year. But I'm happy for the inductees and their families.

    2. I think it's about time for Keith Whitley and I don't really have anything against Jerry Lee but I don't know anything about Joe Galante I'd never even heard his name before today

    3. Joe was a major MAJOR force in the 70s through the 2000s. He guided the careers amon other s of Ronnie Milsap and Allen Jackson. Country music would not be, or have been what it was then without him.

    4. Didn't Joe (very infamously) drop most of RCA's classic country artists in the early '80s to make room for Alabama?

    5. Yes, he was. He dropped Hank Snow after 49 years with RCA, along with Charley Pride and I believe Dolly Parton, among a dozen others. I do understand that the label was getting stale, and the veteran artists saw their sales decline, but there always is a better way. Granted, he did sign some great artists to the label and revitalized RCA, which at the time was in decline. I just didn't like how he went about it.

  6. It is what it is, but to me there’s more deserving people in the non -performer category. For the most part a lot of these greats ( singers, musicians, non-performers, etc.) will never get inducted, cause the ones voting don’t know the contributions these men & women made. Wilburn Brothers made an impact as performers and as non- performers. They continue to be overlooked. The same goes for Irving Waugh, Johnnie & Jack, The Bailes Brothers, Maddox Brothers & Rose. 7. I don't think anybody questions Keith's induction, I mean just look at the impact he's had on so many singers over the last 30 years! However, if anyone was wondering why he's going in, his final opry performance is on youtube! Just watch that. As Eddie would say, "Are there any questions?" I actually do infact have a qquestion. I was 3 when he died. Did people get what a fantastic singer he was when he was alive? Or has that really grown since he passed away?

    1. E. Z. I think for the most part, he's been more appreciated after his death than he was when he was living. He was never nominated for Entertainer of the Year for the CMA Awards and only received one nomination for CMA Male Vocalist of the year, in 1989, the year he passed away. He never received an artist nomination from the ACM. He did receive one CMA award (in 1989) for Single of the year for "I'm No Stranger to the Rain" and his album "I Wonder Do You Think of Me" was nominated for Album of the year in 1990. The fact is, he never received an award or nomination for a major award while he was living, not that he wasn't deserving, but he was in a group of performers that were all more commercially popular than he was.

I am in know way saying he is undeserving, I owned all of his country released albums (cassettes) and played them a lot and still turn up the radio anytime one of his songs comes over the air. His career was too brief in my estimation, so I think a lot of his worthiness is based on what he could have been than on what he was.

Now as for Jerry Lee Lewis, I think there are dozens of more worthy people that could have been selected over him.

I have no opinion on the selection of Joe Galante, I only know this category is severely log jammed with worthy nominations, maybe even more so than the Veteran Category, even though most people (including me) have limited knowledge on their worthiness except for what I read on here posted by Byron and other regulars.

  8. I think the voters got it right this year, both Jerry Lee and Keith were long overdue for the honor, I think the voters did a great job and the right people are going in, Now I feel very strongly that next year will be Tanya Tucker and Dwight Yoakam's year, as well as it should be.

  9. Tanya is a safe bet in my book, but I don't have a vote!

  10. I really thought it was Tanya's year a couple of years ago. Surely she'll get in soon.
