As the Grand Ole Opry rolls through June, there is another week full of shows.
Taking a look first, at the Tuesday Night Opry, the show will feature a great group of Opry members, including an appearance by one of the newest members, Carly Pearce. Carly will be joined by Bill Anderson, Craig Morgan, Don Schlitz and Jeannie Seely. In fact, the only non-members will be comedian Aaron Weber and American Patchwork Quartet, who will be making their Opry debut.
Moving now to Wednesday night, Opry member Ashley McBryde returns to the Opry stage, along with members Riders In The Sky. Joining them will be Country Music Hall of Fame member Ray Stevens. along with Clay Walker, Tigirlily Gold, RVSHVD and Appalachian Road Show.
Finally, to close out the week, the Thursday Night Opry has Charlie McCoy, Don Schlitz and Rhonda Vincent on the schedule. Very frequent Opry guest Charles Esten is back, as is comedian Aaron Weber. Shane Profitt, Carter Faith, and a name from the past, Terri Gibbs will out the lineup.

Yes, Carly will be doing two sets on Tuesday night to celebrate the release of her new album hummingbird, which is her fourth studio album.
Bill Cody made mention this morning on WSM's Coffee, Country, and Cody that Carly will do her first portion Tuesday night acoustically, then her second portion with a full band.

ReplyDeleteAgree on Terri Gibbs. Saw her MANY years ago at Disneyland, and she is a great entertainer. Very interesting life story as well.
ReplyDeleteNot really an Opry issue, but I would like to tie it in with something. A new record was just set for the largest concert attendance ever: 110, 995 ticketed fans for a concert by ... George Strait. Now, yes, it was in Texas, but he's 72. That's 72. He has some gray hair, or hides it well. There just MIGHT be a message in that.

DeletePeople know what kind of country music they are in for when they hear the name George Strait ... is it any wonder he sold that many tickets for one concert; that I am thinking his name should be thrown in the ring for CMA Entertainer of the Year in November. If they go by the amount of seats sold for this category, he has to be the clear winner and wouldn't that be something at his age and the draw he truly does have ... Garth did that a couple years ago, not nearly as much of a fan of Garth's as much as I am a Strait fan. No nonsense, no swinging on ropes, no flashy lights, just country music. The end.
Traditional country music is out there ... we just have to seek it out and enjoy it that way.
Not sure if you have RFD-TV on your TV line-up, I am thoroughly enjoying The Malpass Brothers, Dailey & Vincent and Ray Benson's shows Saturday nights and while I am more than likely listening to the Opry, I am DVR'ing these three shows.
Within 90 minutes, I hear traditional country , bluegrass, gospel and Texas swing music; the music is wonderful and so are all the hosts and their guests.
The Malpass Brothers have had T. Graham Brown, Gene Watson, Jeff & Cheri Easter and Moe Bandy as their guests, this Saturday Mark Lowery will be guesting, he is gospel music.
Jamey Johnson was on Dailey & Vincent show this past Saturday night, and as always, he was just terrific. Jamie and Darren clearly like the guy and especially his songwriting.
As I see it, we can count on the Opry for just so much traditional country music as they are widening their stage for all sorts of music.
