Let me start off by wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. I hope everyone gets the opportunity to spend the holiday with family and/or friends. For those who will be working on the holiday, our thanks for taking care of us. For those who will be traveling, may you have safe travels and good weather. I know it will be a busy time at our house as all of our children and grandchildren will be joining us, coming up to Ohio from North Carolina.
From a personal standpoint, I am thankful for all of the readers of my blog. You have no idea how much I appreciate each of you and that I add a little something to help your enjoyment of the Opry.
Blessings to all of you!!
And now, here is the lineup for the Tuesday Night Opry:
7:00: Connie Smith, T. Graham Brown, Leah Blevins, Connor Smith
Intermission
8:20: Mandy Barnett, Gary Mule Deer, Alicia Witt, Rhonda Vincent
A very solid show with five Grand Ole Opry members on the schedule.
Leah Blevins will be making her Opry debut on Tuesday night. She recently signed a publishing and management deal with Major Bob Music.
The Kentucky native released her debut album, First Time Feeling, in 2021, and has toured with Lainey Wilson, Marcus King, Flatland Cavalry, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, John Oates, Amanda Shires, The War And Treaty and more.
“Leah is the artist that everyone hopes to have the opportunity to work with in their career, and we’re just so thankful that she chose to land at Major Bob,” says Andy Friday, Major Bob Music’s Head of Publishing.
Growing up, Leah has been influenced by vintage country music and gospel. She hopes to incorporate much of that in her next album.
Enjoy.
Happy Thanksgiving to our ringmaster and the whole gang, and I'm thankful for all of you!
ReplyDeleteI'm so very thankful for you all. We attended our first Opry show just over 10 years ago and discovered this blog shortly afterwards. You ALL have added so much to our enjoyment of the Opry. We've attended 66 shows in the past ten years and look forward to many more. Thanks especially to our friend Byron for making this blog happen. Happy Thanksgiving all! -Woody and Angie
ReplyDeleteWoody-Thanks for the nice comments. There is a lot of valuable information shared here and great memories. A big thanks to Bryon for giving us this place to come and share our thoughts and experiences.
ReplyDeleteI still read all the posts but I comment less because the Opry has changed so much in the last five years or so that I don't have a lot of constructive comments to make. Country music is a certain sound and style to me and I can't get into some of the styles that appear on the Opry these days. I still am of the mind of JT's song What's Wrong With The Way We Are Doing It Now. So I figure I'll keep quite and let those who enjoy and understand talk.
I'm reminded of Fred in Bismarck that posted here for a long time. I have my personal Opry recordings, many of the old Opry transcriptions form the 60's and all of my record collection. They are like me, they don't change! Not being critical of change or anyone who thrives on it. Just a personal taste. When I hear some of these recordings, live and studio especially from the 40's through maybe the 70's, I'm just not sure you can improve it or at least appeal to my taste any better. There are many out there that still play and record music very similar to the style of those years, the new styles have been put out there and promoted as progress and the new in way to do it and the money followed so those making music similar to that older style are just not in vogue. That's just the way it is and I have accepted that. And I still tune in to the Opry each Friday and Saturday to stay in touch with what is going on and still some things I enjoy. As I have said before, I have a terrible time remembering or when I do being able to hear the week night shows!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here.
