Tuesday Night Opry 7/12 & Wednesday Night Opry 7/13

The big news this week at the Grand Ole Opry is the official induction of Charlie McCoy as the Opry's newest member. That will take place during the Wednesday Night Opry on July 13.

Before getting to Wednesday night, taking a look at the Tuesday Night Opry, Opry members Jeannie Seely, Bill Anderson, Del McCoury and Dustin Lynch are on the schedule. Guesting will be Jimmie Allen, comedian Henry Cho and Dylan Scott. A pretty strong line-up for this mid-week show.

Tuesday July 12
7:00: Jeannie Seely, Dylan Scott, Bill Anderson, Del McCoury Band
Intermission
8:15: Jimmie Allen, Henry Cho, Dustin Lynch

Now, looking at the Wednesday Night Opry, in addition to Charlie McCoy being inducted as the newest Opry member, he will be joined by Opry members Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers, Mike Snider and Lorrie Morgan. Aaron Weber will be the comedian that night, along with popular and frequent guest Charlie Worsham. Finishing out the line-up will be songwriter Tom Douglas and guitarist Tommy Emmanuel.

Wednesday July 13

Congratulations to Charlie and I know we are all looking forward to Wednesday night.

  2. So confusing.
Tuesday tickets going fast with very high prices.
Wednesday lots of tickets at lower prices.
    Seems odd to me.

  3. Wow, two very good shows and they are better than many of the prime Fri & Sat nights

  4. Attended a music festival on Saturday, JOE MULLINS and the Radio Ramblers were there and they mentioned how they loved playing the Grand Ole Opry, sure wish they would ask them back - and they would definitely be a great act to add to the membership (need more bluegrass !!).Always well received at the Opry. Another really good group at the festival was the KODY NORRIS SHOW, they would be a fantastic act for the Grand Ole Opry to have as a guest and they are from Tennessee. Check them out on YouTube. (Byron, if you have any contacts, please pass the info). (from Anonymous in PA)

    1. I saw Joe Mullins at the Ralph Stanley festival in May and agree. Really enjoyed his performance and have been lucky enough to have seen him on the Opry. Hopefully he is scheduled again soon, but I also know that he has a busy road schedule.

  5. I know this is a repeat post, but this makes no sense to me.
Tuesday show is now essentially a sell-out, while Wednesday seats are available all over the place at fair prices. Any ideas what that's all about?

    1. Nat, I'll take a couple of shots at this: One explanation is that there might be a convention at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel that as part of the convention, has bought a block of tickets, or made a block of tickets available for those attending the convention. I know that has been done in the past. Another thought is that there could be some school or youth groups in town for an event that has included Opry tickets. The third explanation, and this one is highly unlikely is that they are not selling all of the seats in the Opry House, thus not everyone of the 4,000+ seats are available. What I can also tell you, from past experience, is that the Wednesday night shows, for whatever reason, do not generally sell as well as the Tuesday night shows.

    2. That all makes good sense Byron.
I had hoped Charlie McCoy being inducted into the 'Opry would make the Wednesday show more popular. :(

  6. Just sticking to COUNTRY music might make more people willing to attend the shows. Knowing what to expect when you attend will attract more advance blind ticket purchases from folks that have to drive 500 miles each way to attend ---Flushing , Michigan, Dashmann ( I would never consider the trip the way things are now for a measly 2 hour show )

    1. I think the 'Opry has is trying to do a better job of filling the shows a little earlier so we can determine which ones we might be willing to attend.
Lineups have become a real crap shoot in my mind. Some shows are basically variety shows, others more to my liking.

    2. Ditto to you both - we watch for local concerts/shows by the entertainers we like and if we decide to travel, not so far for an overnight stay.

  7. I think the problem might have been name value with Wednesday! I'd like to be wrong, because Charlie derserved a full house as much as say Carie of r Brad, but the fact is, if you're not either a student of the game or of a certain age, you have no idea who Charlie is.
