  1. Why is it the women of the 'Opry seem to care more than the men about appearing regularly?
Jeannie Seely has appeared way more often than anybody in the history of the 'Opry, Rhonda Vincent on a tear since her induction, Mandy Barnett appeared like what, 260 times BEFORE her way overdue induction, Connie Smith, Carrie Underwood, who the 'Opry needs a whole lot more than she needs the 'Opry, and I've probably forgotten others.
    Well done ladies!

  2. One of the things about the mid-week shows that should affect them is that since they are not on the weekend, the bigger names among the members should be more free to appear. That doesn't seem to be happening this week, and it needs to happen.

  3. In my opinion T. Graham Brown and Sierra Hull would be two great additions to the Opry.

  4. I was in Nashville last week for the John Prine tribute shows. They were SO fantastic and really had more country music than almost anything in Nashville in a long time. I counted 59 different artists in the five shows (two shows at the Ryman and one at the Hall of Fame) I went to including Emmylou Harris, Tyler Childers, Hayes Carl, Jason Isbell, Elizabeth Cook, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Brent Cobb, Margo Price, Kacey Musgraves, Lyle Lovett, Rambling Jack Elliott, Dwight Yoakam, Brandi Carlile, Steve Earle, Jim Lauderdale, Hogslop String Band, Siera Hull Nathaniel Ratcliffe, Bonnie Raitt. There was a really great report about it CBS Saturday Morning. If you wonder where country music went, start with these people. These are the folks the Opry needs to add as their guests and members.

I skipped out on the Friday Prine tribute show and went to the Friday Night Opry specifically to see Connie Smith & Bobby Osborne. I waited until the last minute to buy my ticket and was really pleasantly surprised when there were SIX Opry members on the show. Charlie McCoy was fantastic as was Ricky Skaggs, Craig Morgan, Connie and Bobby. I came in late and caught Terri Clark's last song, went to the bar during LoCash and ducked out before John Pardi closed the show so I could make it to the Station Inn to see Joe Mullin and the Radio Ramblers - which were fantastic too.

Also skipped out on a Tuesday night Prine tribute for the Dottie West Birthday Bash hosted by Jeannie Seely. A GREAT evening of good country music with SIX Opry members - Seely, Rhonda Vincent, Charlie McCoy (who was being honored), Mandy Barnett (who blew the roof off the place singing the Wilma Burgess song Baby), Don Schlitz and surprise last-minute substitute for Brenda Lee & Ray Stevens - Vince Gill. Also War & Treaty (who were FANTASTIC), Tess Frizzell and Bobby Tomberlin, and Dallas Wayne. HECK of a show for $40!

I feel like Opry Dan has given us a group of regulars to root for and hope we see during trips to the Opry with the additions of McCoy, Schlitz, Mandy, Rhonda, Jamey Johnson (who I saw the week earlier in an AMAZING full concert) and the Issacs!

Was also able to be at the walk of fame star unveilings for Patsy Cline, John Prine and others that included Brenda Lee, Garth Brooks & Tricia Yearwood as presenters and signed the condolence book for Loretta at the Hall of Fame.

Heck of a week when everything time out just right - which isn't always the case most of the time in Nashville anymore.

    1. Sorry we didn't get the opportunity to run into each other. It would have been my pleasure. Glad that you had a good time in Nashville.
